Now, since the game gives you the option to play through either the original game or the new story, which would be better to play first, (assuming we can carry things over from our first playthroughs into our 2nd/3rd/4th/etc playthrough)? I don't know much about the new story driven side of the game...

That new mix is beauty at its best. Brought me back to my very first EO 1 team. My very first step into the Emerald Woods. And my very first breathe of a long love hate relationship I would soon foster. Great stuff man .
