Re: Games you are playing

While you guys are playing Breath of the Wild, I decided to give the Final Fantasy series a try, precisely FF XII. The combat system and the universe are interesting, although the characters seem a bit too bland and meh. Also I started Bravely Default and I'm having a blast the the combat and job s...

Re: Nintendy Switch

The Switch looks neat, but I wonder whether solo, non-party games will take advantage of its specificities? Many DS and 3DS games could only have existed on these systems because they require the two screens and touch screen… but for now I can't really see what the docking and detachable Joycons wil...

Re: Favorite Books and Current Reads

(… I thought I'd just write a few sentences about a few books, but that turned out to be a very long post  :| …) Mr. Gwyn by Alessandro Baricco: A writer decides one day to stop writing novels and become a “copyist” instead. He's not sure himself what this means at first — after thinking about it fo...

Re: Religion

A God from which all good and all evil emanates makes a lot more sense to me than a single omnibenevolent God. But could we still call this good-and-evil God caring or benevolent in the usual sense? There is a lot more evil and suffering in the world than what would seem necessary or desirable. All ...

Re: Religion/Spiritual Beliefs

I'm agnostic. I don't dismiss the possibility of our universe having been created by a transcendental entity — in the broadest sense —, but that's about it. I sometimes wonder what faith “feels” like, if it's something I simply don't have and can't conceive (like a colour I couldn't see or imagine?)...

Re: Religion

One of the things that puzzle me is the way people (even non-believers) so often tend to equate believing in God and believing in a given religion. if you believe in a creator god, the thing you can assume without evidence to the contrary is that it silently sets events in motion. The idea of a prim...

Re: Supporting Piracy

In my view, the issue isn't whether you download content illegally or not, but whether you support the creators or not. Piracy is bad when it's simply used as a way to avoid spending money — but when it brings a little-known or underrated work to a wider audience, piracy may even help the creators e...

Re: Zamisk's Armoroad Artworks

Wow, this is great!

I really like how the picture seems relatively easy to grasp at first glance, but gets dizzying when I focus on the details and try to imagine how the scene must look from the characters' eyes.

Re: Webcomics

Here are some I've been enjoying lately: Baker's Dozen A sweet little story about witchcraft. Harpy Gee Fantasy adventures! The main character is an elf named Harpy, and she has a cat named Goblin. Sufficiently Remarkable A slice-of-life comic with two young adults; Rita is a struggling artist and a...

Re: Fun facts.

Minesweeper is actually a competitive game with world rankings and stuff. The current world record on expert difficulty is about 31 seconds. Human beings will turn anything into a competition. I knew someone named Bob Cooper who found out by searching his name on Google that he shared that name wit...

Re: Introduce yourself here! Or say farewell!

Hello everyone! I've been playing Etrian Odyssey II for a while and it's become one of my favourite games. I came across this messageboard when looking for tips, it looks like a nice place :) I'm not sure what else I should say so here are some other things I like: tea, electronic and experimental m...
