Forced Password Change

Hi All,

I know that this is going to be unpopular, but to maintain the security of the server and the various other sites that operate from this server, I've had to activate a feature that forces you all to change your password every 180 days. In addition to this, your password must contain a mix of letters and numbers.

This is non-negotiable and whilst I know it's a pain, it only happens every 6 months from today, so I've made it as infrequent as is advisable.

Forcing the use of numbers and caps is really irritating. One of my pet peeves.

I'm not actually upset. It just forced me to update my old, previously hacked, password to my current one, which is very complicated.

Me and my roomate were talking about that XKCD strip recently when we were setting up the wireless at the house. I couldn't remember the Troubadour (fuck your symbolsnumbers) example but damned if we both didn't go "CORRECT HORSE BATTERY STAPLE" when I suggested just using a passphrase instead of a ~20-bit random string.

It was awesome.
