A bit of [youtube] tag adjustment

It's a bit minor, but

[youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5A-cOmaaBgQ[/youtube]
doesn't work when it adds "https", which a script I use adds

[youtube]http://youtu.be/5A-cOmaaBgQ[/youtube]
Those youtu.be links don't work either when posting a youtube vid.


Would it be possible to change this? Kinda bothers me.

The phpBB3 mod can be found . It seems to have updates available for both alternatives Morte mentioned, as well as one for just the video ID.

I think there was some problem I can't recall with those, but ^_^ I could be wrong. I will give them a try this weekend. It WOULD be nice to just use the shortened youtube link.

... maybe even get the @time thing to work.

That bbcode supplied will stop the long links from working and kill all existing videos frok working too. The custom BBCode is very basic and doesn't allow for IF statements or anything that's not basic.

We may need to find or make a mod for it Max.

Well, it worked.

So, I didn't REPLACE the old code. [youtube] still works.

This new code which uses the shortened link uses [yt]

So, it's not a GRAND fix, but... <_< I dunno? What do you guys think? The time thing still doesn't work. There's nothing that mentions it and I looked

Hmm, I'm not sure having different tags for the same thing is a great idea. I like Archaic's proposal of combining everything into one tag best. That will probably require some php-fu, but I think we have a few people with points in that skill around here

For now, changing the regular [youtube] tag so that it also handles https:// URLs would be a useful start. I've seen people use that a few times recently, and from that phpBB3 page it looks as if the change is trivial to implement.

Except we use phpBB and not vBulletin. Sadly we don't have the ability for dynamic tags or effective wild cards.
