Wouldn't hurt having one in the future, either, but I can't really explain why... not for another few days/weeks.

the suggestion is the built-in feature I see in other forums where you just put in your gravatar email, and ITL automatically updates your avatar for you, whenever you change it on Gravatar. And that would apply to other forums you use it on, too. It is like some sort of mass internet identity.

Question: have you seen phpBB 2.0 forums using these? I could see maybe 3.0 supporting this or vbulletains and all those others, but I don't think we could do it.

yeah I guess we couldn't unless we update the entire forum version right

I don't know how that works, would it cost money on your part? would we lose important settings, or stuff like post count?

When we were first going to launch the site, we actually were going to launch on phpBB3. I WANTED it.

However, we ran into a LOT LOT LOT of bridging problems. We couldn't get coppermine to recognize phpBB3. And I don't think at this point, considering our low (albeit faithful) fan base, that we have enough popularity to actually justify the purchasing of the vBulletain forums.

Soooo, I wouldn't mind attempting to segregate the forums and the galleries. Lord only KNOWS how much trouble this could cause us and images we would lose. Really... a bunch of insta-change avatars is not enough incentive for me to actually warrant such a massive project.

That doesn't mean I won't look into it and see what actually GOES into such coding. Perhaps it CAN be done and I will give it an honest look-see, but, don't hold your breathe waiting ^_^;
