I am currently playing Vagrant Story (its a playstation game made by Square-Enix).

Hrrrm, I have that game. I never got very far into it, but I don't remember there being anything bad about it. Tell me how good it gets and if it's worthy of my picking it up again to finish it.

Okay. I got Baroque yesterday, and currently I have been playing it...a lot. The story's so-so so far, but that's really just 'cause (A) I haven't played too far into it yet and (B) The story is told sporadically, as it would if the player were really the character, as he has lost his memory.

Because of (B), there isn't much back-story to the game except that there was some event called "The Blaze," sort of like a Cataclysm/Apocalypse/Ragnarok, in which God wrought destruction over the world. Following this Blaze, the inhabitants took to their fantasies, which became twisted. These twisted fantasies are called Baroques, which are required for you to continue to live in the world. Some people are less demented than others. Most people became Meta-beings, who inhabit the Neuro Tower, which is ever changing.

So...yeah. =D

It's that "memory loss" thing that has me intrigued about how well they pull it off. I picked up a book one time called Amber chronicles or something, and the character starts off with memory loss and he gets dragged into this fantasy world. The book sucked once he got his memory back but the idea has intrigued me ever since. (It will probably inspire a novel out of me someday.) So, I'm kinda interested in how it will pull this off.
