Picnic basket is the best American equivalent I can think of. I think there's a better British equivalent, though.

It is a rather flat and tiny for a picnic basket.

Besides, a good amount of the clothing and furniture in this game is of Japanese origin with their original name, so it's not like the player doesn't have to learn about new cultures to understand certain items.

And yeah, you might be able to wing it as a lunchbox.

My brother has the game, I don't, he had followed the news about it for quite some time before the English release, and he still can't get over the fact that the name of the assistant is Isabelle and not Shizune in the English versions.

My personal preference for localization will forever and always be the original names. I don't like washing away cultural flavour needlessly, and I think people would do well to learn about them. That said, Isabelle is pretty cute and is a better name, in my opinion.

Sometimes changes bother me. Like how Tiamo in Awakening was changed to Cordelia.

Today is about... the fifth day playing for me, and I still don't have a Slingshot and it bothers me because I've seen about 5-6 presents and heard about 6 more.
Also, it took me until now to get development permit, so now I'm working to get a new bridge in town so it doesn't take me forever to go between the beach and Re-Tail to sell stuff. Still haven't really decided what kind of town I want, I don't really get the idea behind them I guess.
Also, today I went to the island for the first time, got enough coins to buy the membership in Club Tortimer. So this could get interesting soon.

I'm tempted to take the offer Hong, but my internet with the 3DS is really shitty. I tried connecting to the worldwide Club Tortimer (or maybe that was why it went horribly), had to as per usual for me sit in the middle of the stairs and in the end was only on for about 1 minute before disconnecting.
