FFIV was arguably the first 'all-round' package - although the narrative was pretty dubious at times [spoiler](Characters returning from death was particularily ridiculous - apparently you cannot die unless you are an old man)[/spoiler], and the character system was (until the DS remake) rather inflexible.
I'm one of those freaks that actually enjoyed FFII. Just like DQ, I like them all for different reasons - except X-2, that was just an awful awful waste of the Job System.
