This video is a glorious analysis of the Legend of Zelda series and why I never want to play Ocarina of Time again.

That's part of it, too.
I think it was a great childhood memory for a lot of people, because they were initially marvelled by 3d when it came around. Since I didn't appreciate gaming going into 3d growing up, I didn't like the game much back then.
Well, I suppose I am being harsh. I enjoyed it enough to beat it so i got my money's worth. Has to be better than Skyward Sword by virtue of having more responsive and engaging gameplay.
