Hence the "legacy" part. Models of the Game Boy and his general control methods and most importantly philosphy continued long after his very unfortunate death... Both the Wii and DS exercise his ideals of affordable and effecient yet dynamic hardware and I'm happy Nintendo will continue to remember him.
Bah. Out of any genius to die it had to be him. -____- I grew up playing Game & Watch games and playing a lot of Game Boy so I was crushed with the news. A lot of people connect Yokoi to the failure known as Virtual Boy but it wasn't even his fault. :[
There will never be another Yokoi. T_____T

*agrees*
I was one of the Nintendo DS nay-sayers, to be honest (which is why I hung onto that article). However, I am QUITE pleased with the product and it's one of those moments I enjoy being proven wrong.
Still, I also keep this image around for posterity....
^ o_O; This idea for multi screens and the possibility of what the fuck nintendo could do had me really worried about what they hell they were thinking...

Oh, I was always a huge DS supporter and today it is still my favourite system. My expectations from Nintendo were to do something innovative instead of just pushing out more powerful software with nothing but a better processor and new mediums. :] I just don't get a Game Boy vibe from it. Maybe all of those years of Link's Awakening (amazing game), Game & Watch Gallery and Pokémon have rot my brain.

I disagree. Many games do not have stylus support, and while the second screen is oh-so-nice, games like Rune's Factory do not turn it into a very big deal. The game could have easily been made into a GB game. The system might not give the vibe, but I definitely get the vibe from the games themselves. Izuna is another one that jumps to mind.
However, games like EO definitely do not have a GB vibe.
