Oh dang. I didn't know you observed lent. How long does it last?
I've been thinking of giving up dairy myself, just in general. I already use other milks most of the time (a rotation of almond, coconut or hemp milk, or sometimes a blend if I find a good one), and use oils for cooking instead of butter. Cheese is tougher to avoid.

Heh. Gouda's the city I grew up in. Feels weird to hear people use that name to refer to something else entirely.
Cheese is easy to avoid if you hate it enough. The only thing where it's a bother is pizza. But homemade pizzas taste better anyway.

I've been trying to eat healthier, I haven't had a cheeseburger or fried chicken or whatever in a long time. If I were to eat something from McDonald's right now I'd probably get sick. The hardest thing is avoiding sodium. American food is all about covering everything in cheese, so I've been trying to avoid that too. I can't say I'd ever have a reason to give up dairy, especially since it's common now to see imported Irish cheese and butter. My partner is lactose intolerant too, but since she likes dairy, that's simpler to fix with a lactaid pill than to restructure one's diet.

I've been trying to eat healthier. The hardest part is finding inexpensive cheese. I recently increased portions of rice and pasta by 50 %.
Now I'm only losing a small amount of weight every month.

I've been trying to eat healthier. Unfortunately, healthier people can run faster than me

For orange cats perhaps. I'm glad eating the cheese wasn't a requirement when I lived there.

First time purchasing loose leaf earl grey.
More than anything else, this has the most drastic difference from its bagged counterpart. It's amazing.

Loose leaf is usually more awesome than teabags.

It's always more awesome than teabags, type for type. :D Just harder to find, sometimes. For instance, I have a hard time finding loose leaf white tea locally.
With earl grey, it just happens to be the most drastic, noticeable difference between bagged and loose leaf. Even the the aroma is pleasant; an hour later, a subtle citrus fragrance hangs in the air. It is nice.
