Both have their merits. Haruhi has more mystery, Lucky Star has more absurd humor.

Thematically and structurally they're pretty different, but you can compare general aspects like art style, humor, fanservice.

I just binge watched Made in Abyss yesterday, was amazed at how much it reminds me of the Etrian Odyssey series. Mostly the first one.
I usually don't watch a whole anime all at once anymore, but this show is a lot better than I expected.

I rewatched Serial Experiments: Lain a few weeks ago. Last time was when I was in high school, in the early 00s… I remembered most of it well, but it felt even eerier than in my memories, especially the way .
It's interesting to see how the series holds up now that the internet and social networks have become omnipresent in our society. So episodes 1-10 were the most interesting to rewatch, even though the ending is great too (the entire series is a masterpiece).
The series is available for free on Youtube and Hulu apparently. (Better than the DVDs that only held three episodes on each disc!)
✿
I tried to find something else in the same spirit — Texhnolyze has good reviews and is made by some of the same people who made Lain, but it's also said to be extremely depressing so… I'm not sure I really want that.
I ended up watching Ergo Proxy instead, which I liked very much! The evolution of the plot was particularly good — . There are still things I'm pondering over, like who really is. The only point I wish had been more developed is

Re: What anime are you currently watching?
I love Lain. I remember many years ago now on Max's Zelda site forums we had an anime watching club and Lain was one of them. That was fun.
I recently bough Lain on bluray and it's done well. The show in my view holds up incredibly well and does the entire espionage feel that the modern world has incredibly well.
Technolyze and Ergo Proxy are meh for me. Both are well received but I feel they were trying too hard to be edgy and it detracts from the show.
Haibane Renmei is good. Same sadness as Lain and brutality too.
