Only the first print PS2 version of Disgaea was licensed under Atlus USA, but both the PSP and DS versions are licensed by NIS America (or NISA), as well as Disgaea's second print on the PS2. NISA also localized Disgaea 2, 3, and it's spinoffs (with the exception of Rhapsody and La Pucelle: Tactics). Something tells me I like Disgaea a little TOO much, lol.
If you don't want to spend the extra cash on a PSP just to play Disgaea, just wait and pre-order the DS version XD

Which reminds me, I got this press release as an E-Mail a few weeks ago:

^ not really a spoiler, but it's a rather large image

I was really excited when I first heard about this... Until I realised it was just the first game again. I loved Disgaea 1 but was increasingly underwhelmed by Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom and Disgaea 2 (in that order). For me Disgaea was a one-time pleasure - it's not really a Strategy RPG at all; it's a GRINDAN RPG but the first one did it with such charm and charisma it was a real pleasure to play. Sadly, for me, after the first time, the illusion seriously wore off.
If this one has enough new modes and features I may be interested in it. That might sound odd after I say "it was good the first time, but not in the sequels/spin-offs" but the fact is, the sequel and spin-offs still looked the same and even the gameplay difference didn't make it feel like a new game somehow. I mean, Final Fantasy Tactics or Ogre Battle feel like totally different games; the N1 games all feel similar despite sometimes being really quite different in terms of their system.
