I currently have a HTC Desire, which I like lots . I love phones and have had tons of them, I upgraded from a Blackberry Curve to the HTC Desire as I wanted a better camera and a flash on it, I do miss having actual keys though. I've been able to touch text on both the Blackberry QWERTY keyboard and the old style for years. Can't stand T9 on "real" phones, but on the HTC and on the iPhone I need it as I can't touch text as there's no way of knowing where your fingers are...
My first phone was the Nokia 3210 and that was about 11 years ago now. I've still got it kicking around somewhere, my upgrade from that, the 3330 died so I never got the chance to keep it .
The biggest problem with smartphones is battery life, I have my personal email accounts and work email synced with the HTC and it rarely lasts more than 16 hours whereas the Blackberry would last about 20 hours and my Samsung before that wasn't a smart phone so would last days and days....
