I lurk in and out every once in a while.

The last time I came back to check in I had intended to make a habit of it again. It was towards the end of 2017, was when I was getting ready to go on vacation. A fun thing happened while I was in the Netherlands which was that my company laid off a bunch of people, but not me. What ensued was an absolute hellscape for the entirety of 2018 and much of 2019 from which I am only now being excised by switching jobs.

I use Discord a lot more. I was thinking about forums recently, and how I miss the old internet, and thought I'd come check in.

How's everybody doing this festivus? I've been keeping busy with client artwork and my day job at a comic book shop, and am considering switching to full time freelance work instead of juggling both. I can make more using my degree while getting paid to practice my craft, which seems like a no-brainer. My plan of gradually working there less as the client work picks up isn't working, as we're short staffed and I have to work more than I want, so I'm falling behind on my client work and don't have enough free time. Things are getting increasingly toxic there anyway, so it might be time to go after Christmas.

Other than that I'm doing well, I graduated in 2018 and moved out of my folk's place last March into a tiny old house in a walking community right next to my work, which is great. What are you guys up to?

It sounds like you're doing really well, Zam, and I'm so glad! Except for the unfortunate comic book shop situation, of course. I can relate. The last bookstore I worked in was pretty toxic and absolutely draining. You'd think places like that would be immune to petty drama and jerks, but they are indeed everywhere. I hope you get out smoothly and soon!

I kind of fell out of the habit of checking forums regularly after I was stuck without a computer for a while, I try to pop in here when I remember, but I have a bad habit of being like, I'll check after I finish what I'm doing and forgetting.

Life has been rather hectic for me these last few years, but it's finally been getting better lately.

Most of my free time get absorbed by ffxiv, but I am also on discord, steam and twitter if anyone wants to chat, though I mostly just retweet artwork on twitter.

Also, I actually had forgotten for a while that I was the admin of the steam group, oops.
