Lord of the Flies is a great book, a little slow at first, but the symbolism throughout the book is amazing. I mean how can people not see that Simon was meant to represent Jesus, he was kind, loving and died in a violent, on purpose way.
The fact that Jack wore a cape, which represents evil as it makes him appear to be a bat, was as clear as day. Not to mention the fact that it came true in his vulgarity to towards everyone.
I've read all of the Artemis Fowl's to date, and I've got a little side book to go with it that Colfer published as well. Awesome series that's not too serious and very enjoyable.
For serious fantasy, you should all try . Fabulous series.
