So basically, Nintendo went on and on about sales figures, even though that involved showing that the PSP was outselling the Wii. They opened with a middle-aged woman standing on a set of weighing scales and pretending to snowboard. The first 4 games they mentioned were all games about cute cartoon animals. Then some toned-down ports (like we all know, the DS GTA will just be GTA1 with different missions - at best).

It was genuinely embarrassing to watch at certain times. Reggie vs Woman was awkward and the drum guy at the end kept messing up. Then when Shigsy and co. "played" the Mario theme tune at the end it just fell flat on its face as they all stopped "playing" but the music didn't. The audience were generally in a stunned silence throughout and really didn't play along.

Sony's main crimes were being boring and heavily implying things in a rather hamfisted way. For example; "We'd like to THANK our partners such as [insert list of major Hollywood studios]" was basically him saying "We'd like to REMIND you that blu-ray is supported by all studios now". At least they presented their stuff way better than the shambolic and PLEASE FIND US FUN! nature of the Nintendo one: Sony open with clips of games and exciting music whereas Nintendo, as I said, opened with a mom on a pair of weighing scales. Also, although I don't think any of them personally interested me, at least they had GAMES rather than a piece of software that does WACKY and FUN things when you wave the Wiimote around.

I missed the Microsoft one but it sounds as if it basically announced having avatars (like the Wii has had for ages and the PS3 announced ages ago) and having FFXIII (like the PS3 has had for ages). Of course, that sparked a load of Xbox fanboys suddenly counting FFXIII as a good game.

All said and done, it was a failure for all of them. Nintendo was so pathetic it was as if it was Microsoft and Sony execs dressed up as Nintendo staff and just taking the piss. Sony kept straying into overly-defensive territory and kept depending on TV channels and movies to talk about. Microsoft's announcements seemed to orbit around "We have something the other consoles have!"
