This show blows my mind every episode.
But sure, I'll check it out sometime.

When you're alone, always remember:
Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
I'll be honest, Nathan Fillion is half the reason I enjoy Castle so much; the rest is Stana Katic.
...oh and I guess the pop thriller procedurals.

Honestly, 2 episodes away from the finale, this show is freaking incredible. Joss Whedon is a freaking genius.

I think that is literally the only good "review" I've ever seen of Dollhouse.
Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
Well, I'll explain why I liked it, because from reviews I've read and you guys nobody seemed to.
Joss Whedon has a big following from his other stuff, and it looks like this show had really high expectations. I did not, I knew nothing about him other than that he was going to do the Avengers before I watched this show. So that could be part of it. But the reasons I personally like the show was that he took a fairly simple idea, that of programmable people, and expanded it and made it seem like it could actually be real. Instead of just sticking to the basics of that idea, he opened it up to other stuff, like 'eternal life' or things that go beyond the basic idea of imprinting personalities.
The first half of Season 1 was pretty interesting, but after that the real story comes out and the characters develop and you start to really like the cast. Most of Season 1 was "Look at this chick that is hot and fights things" but once the show focused more on the other characters it became so much better. Plus, you have to respect the amazing actors who played all the parts they did so amazingly well. There isn't a single weak link in the cast of that show as far as acting ability. And it takes one hell of a mind to come up with all of the messed up shit in that show.
The ending was well done considering he had a lot of stuff he had planned out for later seasons that he had to smush together to make it possible to end so quickly. Plus, I'm a sucker for plot twists, and this show had plenty of those. So, even if nobody else agrees, that's how I feel. I dunno.

Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
I tried watching Firefly, but I couldn't persuade myself to give a damn about any of the characters, and the Sci-fi/western environment struck me as cliched and contrived (and not nearly as good as Trigun's).
Something about the acting, the writing, and the general atmosphere just gets on my nerves. I watched everything, including the movie, and hated the characters more with every episode. There doesn't seem to be any energy, any drive, any forward momentum--just snide sarcasm and disjointed "dark" themes. No, I'm not going to care about your characters just because they've been through hell. They have to earn it in the present--and when I don't buy the world, I'm not going to buy any of the characters or their challenges. I've never seen a show so uniformly praised and so simultaneously underwhelming. I MUST be missing something.
What am I not seeing? How is this better than Star Wars and Star Trek, both of which are genuinely exciting? This just cannot be the best sci-fi show ever @_@
Anyway, watching Lost for the first time. On the second season. Love it. Re-watching Breaking Bad, which might just be the greatest live-action TV show I've ever watched.
