Woah awesome. So much for "NO SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENTS UNTIL 2009"
...although this isn't a big surprise anyway
However, I totally plan on getting this; my old clunky DS has its share of problems....the touch screen is wonky (and cannot be calibrated), the sound hurfdurfs sometimes so that the speakers aren't synchronized, and the battery is starting to bork.
I had planned originally to trade this in to Gamestop and get my discount on a Lite. I may hold onto it a little longer, now.

About the earlier discussion, DS is not to be compared with any of the Game Boy systems, even if it's a portable system from Nintendo that plays games. :] Some people, like my mother, only play a few games on the DS but use it for things unrelated to gaming. I remember way back that they said the Game Boy line will still be continued. I'd assume Nintendo is just waiting for when it's actually necessary. They would never let Gunpei Yokoi's legacy fade like that. ^___^
