I'm on chapter 40 of Gunnerkrigg Court. It's pretty great, but it saddens me to think that I'll have to start waiting for it to update once I get caught up.

An RSS client polls the server at regular intervals (hourly or so) to see if any new posts happened. If so, it downloads them (or usually, previews/digests of the full posts).
