The first time they ever did this was to try and beat Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker in I think like 24 or 32 hours or something like that. It was all over digg and the like. I remember they failed to beat the games (and I'm sitting here thinking "Uh, I can beat Ocarina in like 6 hours wtf it took you 12?) but it was successful enough that, yeah, they have this whole charity thing organized.
Or this is a separate group ripping off that original group. That group sent their donations to Kid's Play or some charity of that similar name. MS is a good fund, too, I suppose.
