Disney-drawings and Pixar-3d-animation isn't comparable in my book. They are just two different mediums by two very different companies who just happen to have signed a contract that connects them. Personally, I had HOPED that Pixar would cut all ties to Disney. Meh, whatever. I don't know is going on in Lasseter's (and other's) head or what was the contract stipulations, so I guess as long as they are able to continue on and persevere, I am totally happy.
My favorite Disney movie is Mulan.
My favorite Pixar movie is Wall-E.
But, I agree with you. I understand why Lion King would be your favorite and hard to give up. I feel in many ways it was the last truly GOOD Disney film. After it, Pocahontas was released and... let's be honest, that movie was so fuggin' god aweful I wanted to barf. And Disney never really recovered except for a few gems. (Of course, this is all subjective and my own personal opinion.)
