Re: Rant/Complain Thread: u mad?
A lot of americans seem to balk at the idea of big cities dominating rural areas in voting just because they are more people.

Re: Rant/Complain Thread: u mad?
Sponge, I don't see how you think you have the right to complain when you actively chose not to vote when you had the option to do so. I get it, only if, you were suppressed from voting due to voter suppression laws Republicans have been passing over the last decade. However, deciding that you just do not want to vote when there are other things to be voting on at the local level like: House seats, Senate seats, and State/County/City ordinances is, well, mind boggling.
Secondly, you're complaining about people actively exercising their right to protest the result of the election... An election, in which, the person who won went on about how the system is rigged and that he would only accept the result if he wins. If the system is rigged, as he claimed, and he wins, as he did, he is actively admitting to dabbling in voter fraud at that point.
Thirdly, I will NOT unify under this inept person and I'll be damned if I have to just sit there and hear that from the politicians who opposed, obstructed, and gerrymandered anything Obama was for. It's amazing how different it is when they rise to power and now every one has to sing Kumbaya now when they refused to do same under the current president.
Lastly, do I seriously need to remind you that the Tea Party Republican establishment that shut down the government, illegally, in attempt to kill a law signed in to law by Obama are the very same people who Trump has and is surrounding himself with.

Re: Rant/Complain Thread: u mad?
I hope I did not come off as inflammatory, I was stirred up and tired at the time of writing so a lot of my opinions were phrased like utter garbage, and I probably went a bit overboard in places where I really don't hold that much positive opinion myself. I fully admit that not voting was a useless thing to do, and it's perfectly right to judge me on that. Even after doing a good amount of research I still didn't really care about voting because I was just fed up with politics at that point thanks to the entire Trump vs. Hillary thing being just being a complete shitshow; I only really felt dragged back in by the time it was already too late with the protests being, imo, a step backwards in what should be a good way to handle the current situation.
I'm not optimistic for Trump by any stretch of the word, I just think it's too early to truly judge what he'll actually be doing, especially with how much he's flip-flopped with topics, and his recent seemingly more sobered attitude towards presidency. I really don't think Trump has any grand ideas in particular, he just wants to be president so he can stand on top of the world for a bit, and if he has any comprehension of the magnitude and weight of that position at all than he will try his hardest to be popular once he gets sworn in. Of course, again, it's way too early to say anything completely damning for either side, there.
To say that all Trump supporters are racists and idiots ("basket of deplorables", mmm) is completely unfair and untrue. There are many perfectly valid reasons to favor him over Hillary. The democratic party tends to have a huge rift between them and the working class and have for a while now and Trump represents more of a 'voice' for them at least in some aspects, the DNC practically sabotaging Bernie Sanders obviously made them look bad and not just them but Hillary as well and made a good number of people abandon the democratic party altogether. Hillary's multiple health scares were also a boon for Trump, I think that it's hard to deny that Trump makes a much more healthy candidate than Hillary did (and while this could be seen as a bad reason in and of itself, don't view these as reasons within themselves, view them as sort of 'adding to the pile'). To bring back "basket of deplorables", she lumped all Trump supporters in to one group and insulted them all effectively turning them from ever switching to her side. The Clinton Foundation accepting money from countries that kill gays and promote rape while Hillary sets herself up to be a 'champion' for the people that would be effected by this in America. I could point to Benghazi and the E-mail thing, but not many people still care about the former and the latter is, while not a non-issue, pretty overblown; though those are still reasons people might decide not to vote Hillary especially because the e-mail one makes her out to look EXTREMELY untrustworthy. Two of the three presidential debates are seemingly skewed in Hillary's favor to the point the moderators argued on Hillary's behalf. It's not so much Trump can be seen as a hero within himself, more he represents a change in the 'style' of presidency that many people find appealing, a presidency much more clearly-defined and transparent that one that Hillary would provide, with Hillary being perhaps one of the most unlikable and unrelatable in politics today and basically being the personification of the establishment, something that both Trump and Bernie both both spoke out against.
Many women did vote for Trump. There are Mexicans and Muslims that voted for Trump. There are homosexual and transsexual people that voted for Trump. Yes, there are also those racists and idiots that voted for Trump, but that's completely unavoidable since those people will always exist and cast their vote somewhere, anyways. This wasn't just because one group of people decided to 'be shitty'.
Of course Trump is not a perfect answer, and you can easily raise fair points as to why. Had there been a better candidate than Hillary in the democratic slot I would have voted for them in a heartbeat because it would have been an obvious choice; but there wasn't. The people holding protesting against Trump are holding up Hillary as being much more of a saint than she already is, DESPITE her extremely volatile opinion towards gay right as in the past she was EXTREMELY against gay marriage (despite, again, setting herself up as a champion for these people now) and her constant blatant lying. I can completely understand people wanting to protect themselves, but I feel like this protest is not the best way to make the change that they want. I'm not saying that Trump would 100% be better, but Hillary wasn't gonna make things that great either.
Despite all my meaningless whining, I don't really expect anything to come from these protests at all anymore. All it's doing at this point is splitting the people apart even more than ever, and being a possible avenue for violence (it doesn't matter how pure-hearted the idea behind any movement is, there will always be those people resorting to violence within it thinking they're being a hero because of it). My main feeling (which I never really specifically put together in my last post because i'm actually an idiot) is that I fully hope that these people who feel like they would be prosecuted against in a 'Trump America' are NOT prosecuted against, I just think that they're overthinking things and, even if there was such a huge danger to them, going about things completely the wrong way and only causing more harm to their country than they are 'saving it'. They are only distancing themselves instead of bridging the growing gap between Americans at large.
I'm gonna bow out now though, though I trust my research I'm probably lacking in one or two areas and I'm perfectly willing to accept my opinion as being a stupid one if that's what popular opinion demands, I suppose. I would rather be shown I was wrong and suffer the consequences than believe blindly in something that was not true and think I was right.

Marine Le Pen is also supporting Russia, so we could end up with an effective russian majority in the Security Council while the States bumble around.

Re: Rant/Complain Thread: u mad?
Before I inevitably move these comments to the Srs Bsns section, im gonna quickly point out that clinton said HALF, not all, of trump's supporters were a "basket of deplorables", and imo she was very diplomatically making an extremely low estimate
i will say there IS a difference between being racist/sexist and just not giving a shit about others in general. one of the people I hang out with voted for trump on the prospect of having a supreme court justice that will protect gun rights. even though trump also said he'd appoint a judge who would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. BUT he says he's pro-choice.
So he saw a button that said "you will be allowed to have as many guns and ammunition as you want, BUT, women won't be able to get abortions" and he smashed that button. He's not racist or sexist. He just doesn't value the rights of people that aren't him.
Millions of people saw a button that said "[insert issue the voter cares about], BUT women won't be able to get abortions, gay marriage bans will be made legal again, mexicans will be deported and muslims will be kept from entering the country" and they pushed the button. IMO that is an actually evil act.

I'm so sorry for you guys that your country is more and more divided in a chaotic context.
Aside from that I'm getting more and more exhausted because of work and chores, needless to say that I have the house for myself since my parents are on vacation.

Actual, for real, public anti-semite Stephen K. Bannon in the White House. Good job.

in Europe it's become the NORM for the top candidates to be populists, right? so they are either a socialist or a fascist? America's catching up, don't worry

In the UK it's Rupert Murdoch's fault. For years all of the main newspapers, which have a lot of clout, have been moaning about Europe, about immigration, about terrorists, etc and then the mainstream government got on board with a few of those themes to look like they give a shit about the population.
Now we're surrounded by bigoted morons who think Brexit, Frexit and any other form of exit justify their ancient, outdated thought processes.
Morons everywhere.
