The removal of FoE EXP in EO2 is pretty minor though; they increased Boss EXP by so damn much that overall you net more EXP in EO2 than you would in EO1.
I mean, sure, it's annoying to work hard for an early-game FoE kill and get nothing good out of it (drop sells for little, drop unlocks little, no EXP) but I'd rather have no FoE EXP + high Boss EXP than FoE EXP + low Boss EXP. Though, FoE EXP + high Boss EXP would be nice; it's not like FoEs yielding EXP would break the leveling curve more than boss farming did.

Main group is RP / MGH.
I 'killed' him by
basically Metopon/Fraility-ing the crap out of him (this did keep him distracted somewhat), Smiting for the occasional bind and a little extra damage, and Midebara + Risk*.
I eventually ran really low on TP, and didn't have much in the way of TP items (I haven't unlocked the higher TP-restore item (the name escapes me) in shops yet.) - so I guess that would make it more feasible, but it seems like I'm still doing something wrong.
I'm probably going to rest the entire party and optimize the skills regardless.

Just in case >>
Dampen would do far more than Frailty if you have it. If you're not using Dampen, Elemental damage would probably do better than Midareba though I'd have to do some number crunching to double check that (150% Elemental with <70% Physical would result in better Elemental Damage and I want to say Golem was 125%/25%)
TP Restoration items would be Amritas and Amrita II requires Ambrosias from 6th Stratum Take Nodes (and 1x Giant Horn, a 6th Stratum Drop from Carbuncls).
also, I'd love to figure out how much of my life force was stolen by playing my EO I & II.
I seriously doubt more than Disgaea (800+ hours), but maybe SQIII will keep track of the time I've spent sailing the ocean while I am being giving a certain comment about the quality of my vessel and singing a particular vulgar song about one's presence on a ship.
