I didn't mean my "I'll shut up now" comment sincerely, I just have a bit of self deprecating sense of humor and I'm sorry if it came off wrong.
As a musician I am a staunch believer in the fact that there are no new ideas. You play what you hear, write what you read, etc... and I enjoy looking into the inspirations of things I like so I am finding this discussion very interesting.
I'm also interested in the changes in EOIII. It seems to have a larger technological vein to it than the other two (although not by a whole lot). I read an interview with the designer of the EO games where he talks about their choices in settings and how the sort of Mediterranean setting just seemed like the logical progression after the previous two. It makes me wonder what other sorts of "progressions" are being made in EOIII.
