Books and Stats (spoilers here)

A few questions about the books you find that increase stat points for anyone that may know the answers.

The [hide]Luck book[/hide] you can get from the [hide]Raging Hippo[/hide]. Does that bonus stay with the character if they retire or rest?

Does anyone know what monsters carry stat boosting books and where those monsters might be located?

Maybe they realized most people just recreate the same character with better stats and more skill points.
