Shogun's best use is with a group focused around Warrior's Might; while 5-Ring Sword is nice, Pincushion (Pirate) outperforms it anyway. However, to truly use Warrior's Might, you need a Shogun/Pirate as well as a Gladiator/Shogun or Arbalist/Shogun.

Personally, I'd retire the Prince(ss) into a Shogun/Pirate but then you're basically getting into the cookie-cutter group at that point (Monk/Prince(ss), Hoplite/Shinobi, Shogun/Pirate, Gladiator|Arbalist/Shogun, X/Y).
