When we actually start doing things, the thread names are going to get confusing.

What I suggest is, within the "Role-Playing" subforum, we have two subforums, one being for discussion and plotting, and the other being for the actual threads containing the RP.

So in one section you'd see a NOODLES ADVENTURE thread. I'd write a sort of prologue, then summarize what the story will be like, give a sheet of what I require from each character etc, and all the out-of-character discussion will go in that thread. Then, in the OTHER section, we'd see the actual NOODLES ADVENTURE, and it would read like a continuous story.

Sound good? Any questions?

I think that this forum (the Role-Playing forum) would be where we'd discuss stuff, and then we have a separate sub-forum any specific story types (like, if we make an EO RPG called Etrian Chronicles, for example, there would be a sub-forum under the Role-Playing forum called Etrian Chronicles).

Wait, what? That can't be right, I'm a moderator (and technically admin through some unexplained reason) on my friend's forum and it allows for subforums, I made one myself even!

Maybe you're using a different version of phpBB? I can't really tell, I can't figure out where to check the version...

Ah, wait, I found it in the ACP under Board Statistics. It says "Board version: 3.0.7-PL1". I guess that means I'm using phpBB3 then?

That would be a yes.

Either that or modified phpBB2 boards since I believe there was some kind of hard to set up add on. However I'm not altogether sure of that.
