I don't know if i should invest more points for my fortress into the base fortress skills like guard mastery and hp boost, or put more points into his dancer subclass. i do know i need to put more points into healing wall though. it'll help with his surviving that dosen't rely on calm breath burst art.

Personally I can't see the benefit of subclassing your fortress with dancer. Fan dance might sound great, but IIRC if an attack is evaded you won't get the TP back you'd get by getting hit.
The landsknecht's swordbreaker and second iron wall (apparently they stack, at least the speed boosts on dancer/nightseeker seem to do, though i might be wrong) strike me as the better choice.

Also, at 5/10 it's about 30%, which is significantly huge for mitigation.
Also, the Dancer and Nightseeker speed boosts don't stack properly, both are bugged in different ways (hint: dancer's is bugged wayyyyy worse!)

edit: to be more specific: Dancer's Speed Boost straight-up brings your evasion to zero even with Fan Dance, while Nightseeker's overwrites fan dance but still provides its own (lower) evasion.

I think the evasion's the only part that doesn't work though?

Speak for yourself:
I find a sniper extremely helpful, especially silver arrow, when you later on have monsters that resist about everything. Not to mention that sometimes a single target shot can be the better choice than a whole group bind.
