Since it's relevant then, the demo comes out February 7th for NA. Progress in it will carry over to the full game when it releases February 26th.

I love how we're getting a demo. ;___; I honestly wasn't expecting one, so this is a very pleasant surprise!
Also, huge thank you to Atlus for including the carry-over feature. Having to restart upon buying the full game would be kind of depressing. :'|

basically, its like reserving a copy for yourself so that once the product comes out, you have a copy waiting for you in the store.
Pre-orders are how companies generally gauge interest in the product I think
