I'm half-heartedly looking into what it would take to hack in my Japanese save, so I can treat the English version as a new-game+. Sadly, running an Imperial from level one just won't work, because there are no gunblades of an appropriate power level below the fifth stratum...
At the very least, I'll spend a good bit of time copying all my maps into the English screens.

Since i can't use a Mystic on the get go, for now my beginning party will probably be Swordsman, Fortress, Medic, Assassin and either Runemaster or Sniper

I am thinking a swordsman, medic, sniper, rune master, swordsman! no protector for me! Probably a really bad idea I am sure. Also Zeta is going to keep yelling at me to get my purple 3ds

Sounds like a legitimate plan to me. I don't plan to run a Fortress either, except as a subclass. (I don't really like the way they look.) Landknecht actually have some defensive options this time, so I think you'll be fine.

Does anybody have experience with the accuracy of Amazon's estimated release dates? I've pre-ordered my copy of EO4 through there, and it says "This item will be released on February 26, 2013." Of course, the official site still only says "early 2013" without any specifics.

Last I checked, both Amazon and Play-asia list it for a February release.

I would plan out what kind of setup to use in EO4, but I highly doubt it will be released in Europe.
