EO4 in Europe and 3DS region lock

I already beat you to it. I have my N-American 3DS, and pre-ordered the game. So now we know for certain that it will be released in Europe too. Or the 3DS will be made region-free.

Yeah, it sucks that you can't use your own credit card if you want to use the N-American eShop or PSN store. You'll have to either import a physical copy, or buy the regioned points online. There are plenty of sites for that, but some look a little dodgy.

For hardware, I've used from Hong Kong. They have a good selection of different handhelds from each region. They put the full price on the package though, so you'll have to pay maximum import tax. Be sure to choose Fedex for shipping, because they send a bill after they've delivered your package, whereas UPS uses cash-on-delivery. USPS comes down to whatever your national mail uses, which for NL at least is also C.O.D..

For software, I recommend from Ontario, Canada. I've only used them once yet, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they put a reduced price on the package, saving me the extra cost of import tax and fee. They use DHL for shipping, which was super quick too.

I'm using Play-Asia for Etrian Odyssey 4 and they're delivering my reprint of EO3. :3

However for the 3DS itself I checked ebay on a whim and I got a great 3DS XL for £130 that just came this morning and I only ordered it on Thursday. :3

If possible I would rather download the games from the eshop but it's true that those sites seem a bit dodgy. :I

Hold on. I think I was just able to buy from the eShop with my own credit card.

I have my country set to Canada, and it gave me 6 characters for my postal code, which a Dutch one fits in exactly. It didn't complain about it being the worng format or anything, and proceeded to accept my adding points to my account. I've just bought two DSiWare games with them. The transaction hasn't shown up on my bank account yet, but it's only been an hour or so.

I'll let you know if anything important happens, but for now it seems that you can just find a country setting for which the postal code fits your own country's, then (if necessary) change it back after you've added the points.
