I take a break from this forum and I come back to see people arguing over Persona. Like I got back when it was all over.

I think that series and Catherine are why I sort of steer clear of some of ATLUS's work. The art style kind of scares me. Then again, the art style evolved in Etrian Odyssey. I hope they never switch artists.

And yeah. Why? Are those tropes that amazingly overused?

Catherine was a cool game and I think the eyes are supposed to freak you out since Vincent is going through some stressful shit and that's how he perceives the other characters

I have no problem with the trope (or really any other one unless done bad) its just that we all know who she is even though they're using the amnesia just for mystery for the characters...or maybe who knows maybe its a scapegoat to trick us : O (its a HARD Maybe). Point is cliches and tropes, everyone uses it cuz they've all been done so its hard to be original, as long as something catches our fancy that we won't mind it so much

I think it's hard to be original is kind of a myth.

Rather cliches and tropes, used well, tell us way more about a character much quicker, and let them move on and focus on other things.

So if a guy is a nerd but he's not the main character, you don't have to develop him into a nerd over the first 25 minutes of your film. Just give him glasses and a button up.

Amnesia though... I still think it's cheap. I certainly hope, and kind of expect, to be surprised, though.
