Atlus, y u no give me custom characters?

Because, if you want to give a game "mass appeal", you have to sell out and/or undermine the core fanbase.

This is how the game industry works =D

I agree, but I've warmed up to their designs so much at this point <3

Maybe the premade characters are for players who are too lazy to custom and only want to map floors, not sure if I should appreciate Atlus's position about this new game...

assuming that we're going to the same strata, they're going to have to either use larger versions of the original artwork to fill the larger screen(s) of the 3DS, or use new art for said strata.

Premade characters don't give much of an advantage, if any. You just have 1 character portrait to choose from instead of 4. There are also many, many story focused games that allow you to name the characters. I don't know enough about this game at the moment to judge it; it could turn out to be really good or bad. And why is this topic inaccessible to forum guests?

Preset characters doesn't matter at all to me. I'm here for the gameplay, not really the making my own story. Which puts me in the minority around here.

I really wish they hadn't pulled in non-EO1 classes, however. That way they could've just made it Atlus' version of their EO1 playthrough. So EO1 and New EO1 being a "My Story" and "Their Story" sort of thing. Other classes involved makes it a bit harder to keep that take.

And, remember, the premade characters only involve their narrative. They're still fully customizable in regards to skills, class, etc.

To be fair, the premade character's stats don't get changed when you class-change.

So certain characters have a predetermined aptitude towards specific classes. I don't know which ones obviously, but it's a thing.

The characters having their own voices and portraits don't bother me either. It's a fresh outlook on things.
