Immunize did not make EO1 fun. It made EO1 easy mode.

Dark Hunters get a new toy in the Sword tree that basically acts like a super-charged EO4 Shadow Bite, with the side-effect of behaving like EO4 Divine Shot and removing status effects. It goes well with the new skill Dark Curse, which is a multi-target... Cursing spell. It's cheaper than the Hexer's curse curse (hehe) by a small bit.
A lot of the good skills you want to grimoire from your Dark Hunter too, so you might as well have one around.
Of course, there's very little that compares to an angry Hexer Revenge... especially given what ATLUS did with Revenge in EOU - like... I dunno, including TEC in the damage formula?

I don't know if anyone else had a similar time with story mode, but I've been able to essentially steamroll everything up to mid-4th Stratum without any semblance of grinding.
