Yes, well, it's doubtful they will have a particularly fulfilling life behind bars.

1. we can give them a lot less than we do now to the point where the amount of money saved would be trivial
2. im not saying we should be doing anyone favors

Hm. Now I don't really know the numbers here, but keep in mind that a certain % of the money spent per inmate cannot really be reduced. (Guard salaries, for example.) You also can't reduce what you give them the "cruel and unusual punishment" threshold. And that's all ignoring the whole issue of preventing riots.

Transporting every criminal to a central location? I won't even go into how that never ends well in comics due to the serious nature of this thread, but transporting every criminal across the country would cost a fortune, let alone having guards all the while.

Maybe. There's also waaaay more chance of them escaping if they're being moved.

That's bullshit, Garrett. The people who oppose capital punishment are simply unwilling to take anyone's life period. And besides the PLENTY of reasons that you could have for forgiving someone for murder/whatever, not-killing does not equate to forgiveness.

Garrett, do you really think prison is a reward for bad behavior? Please tell that to any inmate ever and let them fill you in on exactly how inaccurate that assumption is. Do a quick search on the internet about and you will find in our country that they are in a sad state. is raped, is far from grade-A, and solitary confinement is used as an extra punishment for a reason. It is not fun or healthy to be cut off from all human contact for an extended period of time and the psychological effects of such treatment have been .

If prison is so great, why isn't everyone climbing over one another to get there first?
