I approve. There are just some people too evil and disgusting and vile to want to let them live. I watch SVU and even though I know they are actors, the scenarios just turn my stomach and I just think how much that person should be not allowed in society.
Yes there are risks involved and I feel that only by continuous change and adaption in the system can this ever be fixed or improved upon, but I don't think it's something that should be dropped entirely.
At the same time, though, I do agree that it almost reeks of Salem Witch Hunting.

If they are a problem to society, killing them removes that problem.
Solitary confinement also removes the problem.
There are some people whose words and influence reach outside the bars and continue to cause societal problems. Murders and drug shipments anywhere in the world can be planned entirely by people in prison.
I have not yet come to a decision.
Also, in relation to criminal justice,

There are an awful lot of people that have ruined some part or all of another's person life directly -and- indirectly, not just by physical harm, but psychological harm, or oppression, financial ruin, etc.
I can understand killing someone in self-defence (whether immediate, or a potential threat where the situation leaves no other clear solution), but I can't draw a line and say 'this crime deserves death, and this does not', especially if I have no actual personal contact with the perpetrator.
Of course jailing all the criminals is expensive. But if there was less poverty and some way of raising folks not to be sociopathic assholes that try to screw each other over as adults, we'd only have to lock up the dangerously mentally ill cases.
