Yoohoo, mrs. European history buff
I would like to know what you think of the current right-wing shift in European politics from a historical perspective. It kinda baffles me why lower-income people vote for (extreme) right-wing politicians who propose policies that favor high incomes over low incomes. Is it merely demagogy, fanning anti-outgroup feelings? Was this predictable from 'recent' economic or international developments? Is capitalism failing, like communism did back in 1989-1991? And will things get better? Any chance of another red revolution (red as in socialist please, not red as in bloody)?
