Silent Cal? Wanted tighter immigration laws, if I recall, but otherwise felt the state should control labor regulation and things like that. His laissez-faire approach to business regulation may or may not have contributed to the market crash of '29, but, hey, while he was in office the fat cats were getting rich as fuck so who cares.

Also, Hanyou, in your list you forgot Jackson, who stuffed the cabinet with his friends and was one of the earliest redefiners of executive power.

jackson also fought 13 duels for his wife's honor, and every time he was ever shot at, whether in a duel or in an assassination attempt, the guns misfired or the bullets didn't hit anything vital (he lived with bullets lodged in his chest and stuff)

he also supposedly beat protesters with his cane

so aside from being a pompous powerhungry asshole, killing the national bank (dunno if that was a good thing or not, really) and being a horrible racist to the point of the mass-removal of indians, he was a complete badass
