Public Smoking: Ban?

As apparently the only regular smoker in existence on this forum, I don't mind smoking bans for indoor areas. However, banning my ability to smoke _outdoors_ is kind of, for lack of better way to put it, fucking stupid as shit.

I choose to eat out on the patio for most places that have the option so I can smoke while waiting for food / after eating; tables are spread apart far enough that my smoking isn't effecting you. Hell, it sometimes doesn't effect the people I'm with (and I have friends who are allergic to, or at least really really hate, cigarette smoke).

Yes, some people lack the common courtesy to not smoke in the face of other people. At the same time, I rarely find random people that have the courtesy to ASK me to smoke elsewhere or to not smoke. It's typically outrage, not requests. I've had people come up and swat my cigarette out of my mouth before instead of, you know, just asking me to stop smoking / not light it.
