L/P/L
M/A
that's the set-up I used my first time around. I liked it. I did one Landsknecht with axes and one with swords. I was tired of my front line collapsing in the early levels.
Just recently reset my game data to start all over.
Guild: Hetalia
Party:
L/P
A/M/T
Germany - Landsknecht
Sweden - Protector
England - Alchemist
Finland - Medigirl
Italy - Troubadour
Originally was L/P/D (Russia, Dark Hunter) in the front row, but then I realized I needed some elemental damage... so Alchemist instead. Not entirely satisfied with this party layout, honestly... hmm...
Oh, and then my farming team:
Suisse - short haired Survivalist
Hungary, Belgium, Ukraine and Belarus - long-haired Survivalists
I amuse myself too much...

I just started a second play-through of Etrian Odyssey:
Guild: Meikyuu
Party:
Front:
Nina - Dark Hunter (whips) / Akira - Landsknecht (swords)
Back:
Annie - Alchemist / Kimiko - Survivalist / Miru - Medic
I decided to give a DH another try (I had one in EO2 for a while, but switched her to a Ronin later on), and to give my L swords this time. Maybe I should give in to this sword thing all the way and switch her to a Protector? That would be a first for me.
Currently everyone is level 3, although I've had several deaths already, so they're not all at the same XP.
ETA: Switched Akira to a Protector:

First posting EO beginner (got EO1 only a week ago), currently been to BF9 and cleared the whole thing until the mammothy end behind BF5's crystal door, with all five of my girls on lvl 33:
Mertar (Axe-L) | Solemnia (Whip-DH) | Alemnia (S)
Holia (M) | Ilia (T)
Pretty happy with the whole group and haven't really had much problems after the very beginning. Mertar's stun and Solemnia's bindings (all three currently lvl 5) do nice damage and prevent enemies from using their skills most of the time. Alemnia is suffering from lack of good bows at the moment, but whenever I find her a good bow her multihit is really nice against stronger enemies. Holia does nothing but heal, and Ilia mostly uses the damage and defense songs. The maxed damage song especially has been working wonders. I got myself Ilia's elemental damage songs thinking that lacking elemental damage would be a problem, but the only time I found them useful was against Fenrir when Alemnia ran out of TP for her multihit. Still, at that point Fenrir was already almost dead so it wasn't that big deal.
