Here's another one:

Why would I want to retire one of my adventurer's? In-game it says 'The adventurer's spot will be filled by an enhanced recruit', but what does that mean exactly?

It's kinda like the Disgaea reincarnation/transmigration process.

- Old character is "retired"

- new character is created (can be any class)

- new character gets extra skill points (depending on what level you retired at) *does not stack*

- new character gets extra stat points (depending on what class the old character was) *does not stack*

So, after you have retired your character, can he/she come back out of retirement if so wished?

When does retirement become available ('Rest' for that matter too)?

I still don't really understand WHY it's advantageous to retire a character (I've not played Disgaea). Would you do it if you felt that you had made a wrong character choice, and want to try a different strategy?

Are there any disadvantages to retirement?

Retirement becomes available at level 30, I think.

A retired unit is gone forever.

It's advantageous to retire a character because they will be replaced by a unit with higher-than-normal stats and skill points. You do it mainly to make an "enhanced" unit. If you just want to reallocate skill points, simply rest. You lose 10 levels in exchange for resetting skill points.

Really, retiring isn't worth it in EOI, if only because it takes so long to grind. In EOII, it was easy to simply grind bosses since they gave such good experience. And retiring in EOII at max level raised the level cap by 1, while it remains at 70 in EOI.

How do you know if a one-off item is safe to sell or if it has some purpose to unlock an area or something like that?

Well the only super important "one-of" items would be key items like your map and keys that you find in the Lab but those items you can't get rid of not matter what. Items that monsters drop or that you can get from item points need to be sold to unlock new things like better weapons and armor and things like Medicas and Nectars. And if you find like Warp Wires or things you can use in battle, it's up to you whether you think you'll need it or if you know it's useless to you so you can just sell it. But Warp Wires are lifesavers so don't sell those lol.

I'm wondering now what 'improvements' they made to EO2? I read somewhere that it is generally a more user friendly experience...
