I haven't played EO II yet, but can't you color the tiles? If that is the case, you might want to try a lighter color tile to represent the lava.

Edit: Oh wait, this is the EO board. lol You're talking about the damage tiles. With myself, I didn't make any changes at all.

You can still use a lot of icons before you hit your limit. I've only encountered one floor where that was an issue. But then I rarely ever note anything down. I just place pit icons, doors (of course), etc. Just basic mapping, nothing fancy.

The limit may be 20. I was trying to label all the pink waterlillies that act as transport and it topped out at 20 memos.

I will use the Elements.
