I was going to buy the original DS version of this game as I am concerned the upcoming remake is going to loose some of the atmosphere that people talked about the original having w/its redone graphics and artwork. Though I seem to remember reading along time ago that while the first game has warp wires you have to walk all the way back down everytime to the level you are currently mapping. Is that correct and is this a problem at all? Thanks...

Geomagnetic fields exists, but there are far fewer (But still a few) shortcuts to help make trips to the B5/B10/B15F/B20F/etc. that little bit faster.

Once you reach the 5th stratum, there's only 1 shortcut that helps you reach the final boss quicker, and in the post game there is one very important shortcut that saves A LOT of sanity.

It doesn't have EO2's Poles, or EO3's and EO4's Abundance of shortcuts, but it still has at least a little bit to help your travel time.
