Bait (and Magibait) allow the DH to counter when a Physical (or Magical) attack lands on the DH OR either character on the side of the DH. The damage returned is 400% the DH's normal damage. If you can control where attacks land (i.e., Provoke or, hey, just having 1-3 people in the group) then Bait/Magibait are pretty amazing. They allow for certain encounters to be done pretty easily.
Notably the Floor 30 boss due to the 3 turns in a row where he attacks 5-7 times per turn ... with a Protector, you can make those attacks deal no damage (they'll actually heal you with a high enough Anti skill).
Huh ... pretty sure this is for EO2...isn't that EO1's boss cycle there?
Ur-Child's Rounds 8-10 are Fire, Ice, and then Volt for damage and they strike 5-7 times randomly. If you use Anti of the proper Element, you'll get healed instead and each strike will trigger Magibait assuming the DH or someone near the DH gets targeted. Provoke or merely having just a front-row makes this pretty easy to do.
