In Need of Skill Point Advice...

Postby KrZyLimE » Wed Sep 25, 2013 2:35 pm

I just started this game several hours ago, and its the first time playing through. I have been reading alot of stuff on the web about skill point allocation and am seeing people are saying you have to pick you skills carefully or you will be in trouble late on. Below are my party members and what I have put points into so far. (The hexer has missed every single time on trying to poison and Torpor. She only hits for like 7 points. maybe I should not have picked her) I am a bit overwelmed and would like to get some opinions.

Lv 4 Landsknecht - Swords 3/10 - Cleaver 1/10 - Tornado 1/10

Lv 4 War Magus - War Lore 4/10 - Cure 1/10

Lv 4 Ronin - Overhead 2/10 - Zamba 1/10

Lv 4 Hexer - Luc up 1/10 - Curses 3/10 - Poison 1/10 - Torpor 1/10

Lv 4 Gunner - Guns 3/10 - Voltshot 1/10

Thanks alot I will do that. Also, I was just reading and wondering if I should replace the Landsknecht with a Dark Hunter or Protector or just keep the Landsknecht. The party I make now is the group I want to finish the game with.

Protectors aren't a necessity until the post game I'd say (At which point you only need them once or twice).

Trading L for a DH is not a bad trade. You'll be missing out on AoE when fighting regular mobs, but you'll get great use out of climax, ectasy, and viper.

I would use DH over Axesnekt, though Mixsnekt and Swordsnekt I'd have to think about it for a while.

I'd wait for Isometric and/or Wolkenritter to show up to give you some more PoVs, then decide.

Also, here's my lengthy review for Landss. Like, really lengthy. It helps examine the good and bad sides of the class.

There aren't any actual spoilers in here, I just didn't want to eat up most of the page:

^Only if your antis resist, but not outright nullifies or absorbs the attack.

The elemental mists can also be used to resist, attacks in such a way that Magibait works beautifully.

Thanks for all the help. After reading it all, can I trade out the DH or Hexer for a Survivalist or will that cause me problems down the line? I do want the best balanced party from the start since this game is so challenging. I am just not crazy about either of those classes but don't want to end up shooting myself in the foot later on.

How do you know when an enemies hit points falls below 55% to use curses/binds

Do I max out one skill before moving on to the next or just put 1 or 2 points per skill to get them all as soon as possible?

The below skill list is what I understand I need to do from the above info...

Ronin - overhead/orochi/kienzan/dead law/midareba

Dark Hunter - whips/viper/climax/str up/ecstasy

War Magus - war lore/cure/cure II/warmight/war edge/str up/cursecut

Gunner - guns/voltshot/ricochet/tec up/medishot

Hexer - curses/torpor/poison/revenge

Am I missing anything...? Thanks again for all the time and advice...

^The only time you need to worry about the 55% criteria is for a level 10 climax. All other attacks/status/binds can be used when the enemies are at full health.

You can check an enemies health when you select them for attacks.

Dampen on Hexer

Also, skill point balance is a weird thing, but its really up to you what you want first. Prioritize what you think you're going to need.

Here's some lines:

You may want at least level 1 dampen before you reach the 23F.
You may want to get climax maxed before the end of the 10F.
When you start a status ailment, go all the way to level 10 before starting again on other skills.
