I just killed the Chimera... It's a lot easier if you have your party's Force thing ready. My Landsknecht and Ronin did about 300ish damage to it while my Alchemist did several hundred over 1000. It didn't even get a hit in. As Maxine has pointed out, it will be relatively easy to level up new/retired characters now. Having done similar things in Disgaea, I guess it's best to only retire one or two characters at once for that very reason - retire them all and there's no easy way left (well I guess you could try the Force skill but I don't know how that would be at level 1 against the bosses).
