Just defeated Chimera and wandered into the second stratum.
Ironically, however, I did so with the Secondary team.
I tried first with the Primary team at 17, and they too took him down too only to be pwned by the SlaveImps that were still left over.
So then I learnt my lesson, bought two Lure Bells, and used the 2ndary team to mop up the support first. I then thought 'what the hell, lets try it!' and much to my amazement, they took him down with three deaths (the entire front line again, LOL)
Unfortunately, it now means my Gunner and Survivalist levelled up to 19 leaving the rest on 15-16. So the three spent a day sulking in the forest by themselves and levelling up to 17. (LOL)
That said, I suspect the secondary team wouldn't have made it if it weren't for the efforts of 4th level Ricochet and Provoke/Parry successfully going off twice.
Oh well, I'll come back when Sakura has mastered poison and he respawns so I can get the conditional drop.

Random update:
Just got to Floor 7, and both parties are 19/20. The Survivalist with 1/10 in Bows and no other combat ability has actually become disturbingly reasonable since I decided to fork out 2k to buy the Shadow Bow for him. Ambush 5 is really helping in grabbing the secondary party lots of pre-emptive attacks too. Go excessive utility!
Similarily, with the Gara Rod I just found, the Medic has become even more hard hitting. She has like 83 attack at this stage, which is absurd. Only the Ronin compares, and thats only because I went back to 3F and killed a Stalker to get a Scythe from it for the nice Katana upgrade. Lord knows how disturbing she'll be when I finally actually get hold of Caduceus. I could have theoretically had it already, but I took a detour to get Salve and a bit of TP up first.
Its a shame Salve has gotten much more expensive than EOI, but then it basically rendered Cure obsolete before when it was like 2 TP more to heal the entire party.
I have to say, I really like the graphics of the Aubern Thicket stratum, but then I've always been a sucker for pretty autumn trees. LOL.
