Seems like Shaman and possibly Hound? have convenient, automatic party-regens.

TP seems harder to generate than before, though. One prestige-Shaman has some stuff, but unless the stars align perfectly, those skills cost more than they restore to the user. They're mainly meant for the party, looks like. One prestige-Warlock has some similar stuff going on. They ought to work well together, but it's no Ninja/Zodiac or Royal.

I don't even care about the skills for now, I'll just do what I always do, take the five classes I like the most/have character ideas for, and somehow end up with a team that actually works.

Buster Cannon is actually too fast to work with some things, like Drop Shot, without putting effort into the turn-order.

Yes, what Endra said. Pick the characters I like, massage slightly to fill gaps/improve synergy, go. If at first you don't succeed, spend some time to over-level even more.

and somehow my ragtag group of adventurers stumble on through til the end.

No more chaser builds, though--I haven't the patience to plot their attacks out and make a party around them. My poor Landy was mostly dead weight in EO4 when he wasn't using Attack Samba ; ;

Yeah, the link party in IV was enough. I'd rather not have elaborate multiturn setups anymore; one turn of preparation, one turn of murdering things. (Unless it's Necromancers and Reapers. I will have one of each in my party no matter what.)

*quickly hides original EO2 team because that was far too weird and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and curbstomped Colossus anyway*

See the problem is that I'm counting around 35 portraits I like, disregarding palettes.

I'm pretty sure I spent a lot of time in EO2 with a Medic, a Protector and a Beast, so like. OK. I guess I'm being attacked.

I'm a nut for TP regen, been addicted to it ever since I discovered EO1 Troubadour's Relaxing, so I usually pick out synergies that capitalize on it.
In EO3 most of my characters (vast majority) have main/subclass of Princes(s), Ninja, or Monk (Bunshin forever!).
In EO4, I had mostly a main and subclass mix of Bushi and Mystic.
In the Untolds, always the TP regen food.

In the most recent games, the TP regen has been distributed much more evenly among available classes, so I'll pursue other fascinating mechanics to play with. Right now I'm enamored with evasion and death procs (Shogun <3).

Then I pick out nice-looking portraits. >:)
