Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
I've been wanting to watch it, really, but I have a hard time looking at Elijah Wood since I watched him in a movie called Maniac. An incredibly well done film... just... he's so creepyyyyyy. Dx I STILL get chills just thinking of it. He played the insane serial killer far too well for my liking.
But I will watch it!

Kong: Skull Island was a hilarious, awesome movie. Highly recommend if you are into glorious monster violence. I was in shock by how good it was. It took itself only just serious enough, never too serious, and it was full of goofy acting from John C. Reilly that had me giggling constantly.
Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
^I want to go see that this week.
Iron Fist, the latest Marvel Netflix show has been getting really negative reviews, but I enjoyed it. It's not as good as Daredevil season 1 or Jessica Jones, but I liked it as much or more than Daredevil season 2 or Luke Cage. If you're into that sort of thing, give it a try.
Half the reviews are people crying about cultural appropriation, which I find silly when it's an established character from the comics and there are so many well-written minority secondary characters that are a big part of the show. The other half are complaining about pacing and the fight choreography being amateurish, but I found the pacing about the same as the rest of the Netflix shows, slowly building with the odd cool fight scene until the end, and the fighting was largely fine, with a few exceptions. Again, don't let the bad reviews deter you from seeing if you enjoy it for yourself.

^im gonna assume it will never come out
anyway, I saw Spiderman, wow, it was actually really really good...one of the best Marvel movies ever. I forgot to post in here about Guardians 2, which actually is my favorite Marvel movie now.
Terrified of seeing the Dark Tower next week.

^ The movie is apparently in linear continuity with the books. Oh, Stephen.

I'm 4 episodes in to the second series of Stranger Things. Awesome .
Big Mouth is amazing too. Makes Family Guy look tame and stupid.

Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
I enjoyed it, but I definitely have problems with it.
Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
I absolutely loved it. I can't think of another movie where I had no idea what was going to happen next at any point, let alone a Star Wars movie being made by a House of Mouse committee. I do understand some of the main complaints, but every Star Wars movie has problems with it and I love them all anyway.
The thing I'm sick of is the absolute hatred of it. The last one people bitched about being "too much the same", this one is "too different" and "not Star Wars". Ugh. I think a lot of the toxicity comes from people's EU inspired fan theories not panning out, and a weird gatekeeping mentality where these people don't like how Star Wars is the biggest movie franchise in the world and that they aren't unique for liking it.
I do work in a comic book shop, so I probably see more people being snobby about it than most people.
Anyway, it's not what I expected but it's awesome.
